Richard Mason & Danielle RoseberryRichard Mason & Danielle RoseberryRichard Mason & Danielle Roseberry have won the Durham County Mixed Foursomes title to add further glory in an excellent season for the club. Having just returned after 5 years at university in New Mexico and Tulsa, former England Girls player Danielle joined Club Champion, Richard to take on the county’s best mixed pairs.

The pair who both play off handicaps of 1, showed great confidence as they cruised through the early rounds, including a 5&4 victory over host club Garesfield. This left a final tie against Barnard Castle. As in the previous rounds the pairing proved too strong and a margin of 4&3 would see them secure the County title.

Ever present was the indomitable Mary Vine. Alongside Martin Sexton, Mary had been part of the last pair to win the County Mixed title for Durham City back in 1978. That was before either of this year’s winners were born but it was worth the wait just to see the proud look Mary wore after the victory.

This win caps a fine season for Richard who this year won the coveted Club Championship for the first time, retained the Durham County Junior title, helped the club team to win the North Durham Union championship and led the club’s junior team to the Durham County Junior 5 man team trophy. Quite an impressive haul.
